#814 Advent clergy stole - Root of Jesse stole (blue)
From Isaiah 11:1-5, in this stole we visually honor the scripture “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse…”
The branches represent the genealogy of Jesus who is rooted in a family, a community, and a history of people.
To top it off, the flower which springs up from the root of Jesse is another figure of Christ. Isaiah prophesied that the Savior would be born from the root of Jesse, that He would sit upon the throne of David, and in Christ, this prophecy is fulfilled. Hence the crown imagery for the flower center. The crown is made of fabric with a rose motif. This is a subtle nod to Mary the mother of Jesus who is often depicted as a rose. People probably won’t see this when you wear your stole but it’s a detail we couldn’t resist!
The stole front is crafted from cotton fabric. The symbols are appliqued and finished with machine embroidery. Details are hand-painted with textile paint. It is lined with the same fabric as the front and is interfaced for added body.
Stole is available in several lengths as listed with an option for cross or dove on the back tip.
It measures 4 7/8" wide at the hem and tapers to 2 3/4" at the neck.
