Clothed in Fire: Red Stoles for Pentecost and Beyond

Pentecost is a season of movement, mystery, and the power of the Holy Spirit—and the vibrant red stole has long symbolized the fire that fuels our faith. At Carrot Top Studio, we thoughtfully design each Pentecost stole to reflect this dynamic energy with elements like bold fabrics, layered symbolism, and intentional craftsmanship. Whether you’re preparing for Pentecost Sunday, an ordination, or a confirmation celebration, the right stole can visually express the sacred story being told in worship.

The spiral is an ancient symbol of growth,

transformation, and the sacred journey inward and outward. In the context of faith, it beautifully mirrors the movement of the Holy Spirit—ever-unfolding, guiding us deeper into God’s presence while also sending us outward into the world with renewed purpose. Like the Spirit, the spiral invites us to trust the unseen path, knowing that even when we circle back, we do so with greater depth and clarity.

Joy, when translated visually, often bursts forth in color, texture, and light—

just as it does in this Pentecost stole. We were drawn to the border fabric that is filled with vibrant splashes of color, reminiscent of celebration and Spirit-filled movement. Accented with touches of gold, this design reflects the radiance and warmth of joy—uncontainable, sacred, and meant to be shared.

Sometimes the perfect fabric tells the story better than words ever could.

For this Pentecost stole, we sought out a truly unique textile to represent the rush of flames from Acts 2. The fabric used for the tongues of fire is flecked with tiny crystals—subtle, yet full of brilliance. It’s these kinds of discoveries, often found in small batches or tucked away in unexpected places, that make our work at Carrot Top Studio so meaningful. Each piece is carefully chosen to create a rich, visual theology that sparks connection and wonder.

If you're curious about the powerful symbols often seen in Pentecost stoles—like flames, doves, and rushing wind—be sure to explore our earlier blog post, "Unveiling the Symbols of Pentecost: A Journey of Spiritual Significance." It offers a deeper look at how these visuals speak to the heart of the season and inspire our designs.

Each stole in our Pentecost collection is a wearable work of art, created to honor both tradition and the Spirit’s ongoing presence in today’s church. We invite you to browse the current collection and consider how a new stole might enhance your worship leadership this season. Let the colors of Pentecost speak boldly—shop the collection here and bring the story to life.
