One More for the Gallery Wall

Camille Pissarro’s The Harvest feels just right for autumn Ordinary Time. The field is busy with people working together, bending, gathering, carrying. It is the ordinary work required to bring in a harvest. I love the reminder that growth may begin quietly, but eventually there comes a time to gather and give thanks for what has grown.

This is a little bonus to the collection of public-domain art I recently shared on the Studio Substack. I believe fine art deserves a place in both our personal lives and our church communities because it helps us pause, notice, wonder, and sometimes see familiar truths in a new way.

Before you go, here’s a tiny assignment: notice one thing that tells you autumn has arrived. Maybe it’s the changing light, a tree beginning to turn, the sound of leaves underfoot, or the first sweater you reach for in the morning. No need to photograph it, post it, or do anything with it. Just notice.
